About Our Beliefs

  1. We believe there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all. John 14:16-17; Matthew 28:19; Hebrews 9:14; John 14:26; Luke 1:35
  2. We believe the Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments in their entirety, to be the infallible, inspired Word of God, inerrant in their original writing, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of mankind, and preserved by God throughout the ages to be the Divine and final authority for all faith and life. II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:19-21
  3. We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. Exodus 9:23-27; Deuteronomy 4:31; Psalm 99:9, 103:8; John 3:16-17; Romans 5:8; Ephesians 2:4; I John 1:9; I John 4
  4. We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit.  We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, and ascension into heaven where He serves as our Mediator and Intercessor with the Father until He returns at the end of this age. Matthew 1:23; John1:1-12; Hebrews1:1-3; Titus 2:14; Isaiah  7:14
  5. We believe in the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower for ministry all who believe in Jesus Christ.  We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding Helper, Teacher, and Guide.  We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all the Biblical gifts of the Spirit.     John 16:7-11; Acts 2:1-5; Romans 8:2-6; Romans 12:3-8; I Corinthians 6:11; II Corinthians 2:22; Ephesians 1:13-14, 4:30; I Peter 4:10-11
  6. We believe that man was created in the image of God and that his subsequent willful sin resulted in spiritual and physical death and in the necessity of a new birth for salvation. Genesis 1 and 2; Colossians 1:16-17; Revelation 20:10;
  7. We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for salvation; that salvation is by God’s grace alone, complete and eternal; and that only as one receives this gift of God through personal faith in Christ is one born of the Holy Spirit and made a child of God. Acts 16:31
  8. We believe in the universal Church, the living Spiritual body, of which Jesus Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are members. Matthew 16:18; Acts 1:8, 2:1-2; I Corinthians 12:12-28; Ephesians 1:22-23, 3:2-6; I Thessalonians 4:13-18
  9. We believe that water baptism and communion are two of the ordinances that our Lord Jesus committed to the Church to be observed during the present age.  We practice baptism by immersion and communion open to believers.  We believe that all who repent and believe on Christ as Savior are to be baptized, thus by faith identifying with the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.  We do not believe that water baptism regenerates, but that baptism is a sign and seal of one’s salvation.  Though we observe baptism by immersion, we will accept into membership believers who have been baptized by another mode. Matthew 18:15-17, Acts 1:8, 8:26-39; 15:4-28, 20:7, 28; I Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 1:22, 4:11, 5:23-24; Colossians 1:18; I Timothy 3:15
  10. We believe that the Holy Scriptures exhort all believers to be filled with the Holy Spirit which will have its result in the fruit of the Holy Spirit to be produced in and exhibited by the believer; and will result in the receiving of a gift or gifts of the Spirit which empowers the believer’s life, enabling the believer to serve our Lord.  We also believe the Scriptures exhort the church to practice the laying on of hands and/or the anointing with the oil for healing. Genesis 1:1-3; Mark 1:8, 6:13; Luke 24:49; John 1:33, 3:5-6, 16:8-11; Acts 5:30-32, 6:6; Romans 8:14-16, 26-27, 11:16; Ephesians 1:13-14; James 5:14
  11. We believe in the literal, personal, visible return of our Lord Jesus Christ and the establishment of His Kingdom, and that this expectation should encourage the believer to live a godly and fruitful life. I Thessalonians 4:13-18; II Thessalonians 1:6-12; Revelation 20:1-6
  12. We believe in the bodily resurrection of all the dead: of the saved to everlasting blessedness and eternal life in the presence of God; and of the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment apart from God.        Matthew 25:26; Luke 16:19-26; John 5:28-29; II Corinthians 5:5-10; Philippians 1:23; II Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 20:1-6, 12-15
  13. We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning and that is marriage sanctioned by God which joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to only occur between a man and a woman who are married to each other. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of sexual immorality, such as adultery, fornication, homosexuality, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, pornography or any attempt to change one’s sex, or disagreement with one’s biological sex, is sinful and offensive to God. We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of the church as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the church members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by the church in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, should abide by and agree to this Statement on Marriage and Sexuality and conduct themselves accordingly.We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who seek His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with scripture nor the doctrines of the church. Genesis 2:12-24, Mark 10:9; I Corinthians 7:2; II Corinthians 6:14, 7:1; Galatians 6:8; Ephesians 5:21-23; Hebrews 13:4
  14. This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of church doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, the Elder Board of New Life Community Church is the church’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application
